In Spring 2016, the Guelph Lab was awarded a $10,000 Cities-for-People Civic Innovation Prize for the Civic Accelerator program.
We submitted a report to the McConnell Foundation, which administers the prize, to summarize the Sandbox project and its outcomes. Here are some highlights:
There were two projects. One produced valuable learnings about the importance of determining community expectations and why students should be involved earlier in the city's procurement process.
The other produced a social enterprise focused on reducing food waste and showed the students how community engagement can result in effecting real change on the ground.
The report is here.
